When you think about your wedding day, what comes to mind? Is it the first time you see your partner and what kind of way you’ll both be feeling in that moment? Is it all your favorite people all in one place there to love on the two of you and celebrate your marriage? Is it all the hugs you’ll get and give from your family and friends? These are the kinds of memories that really matter, and as a documentary-style wedding photographer in Columbus, OH, my goal is to capture them for you in a way where you’ll be able to relive the moments over and over again once your wedding day has come and gone.
Candid wedding photography is all about showcasing the beauty of real moments instead of focusing on posed perfection. It’s about telling the story of your day exactly as it unfolds and not interrupting your sweet moments.
I will incorporate both candid/documentary style photography and mix in editorial, posed photos when the moment is right. This means while you’re getting ready and doing first looks and vows and things where you just want to live in the moment without interruption, I will be more of a fly on the wall, documenting the moments without you noticing. When it’s time for your stunning bridal portraits and portraits of you and your partner, you can bet that I will provide posing and intentionality with positions during these portions of the day.
It’s all about the right approach at the right time.
Let’s talk about the art of candid wedding photography: real moments over posed perfection.

There’s something so special about candid wedding photography as it captures moments you might not even notice at the time. The way your partner looks at you when you aren’t looking or the pure joy on your best friend’s face during the toasts. These are the moments that define your day, and they deserve to be remembered.
When your speical moments are interuppted in order to get a “better shot” it can feel stiff or forced and just not very much fun!. But when you focus on documenting the real emotions and connections, your photos will reflect the true beauty of your wedding day. They’ll show the love, laughter, and happy tears that make your wedding meaningful.
It’s not just about the pictures…it’s about the story they tell. And for couples who want an authentic, stress-free experience, candid photography makes all the difference. Again, it’s the right approach at the right time. There are moments that call for some posing and propting, and there are other moments where I will just help set you up initially and then let you fully embrace and enjoy a moment. And many moments where you won’t hear from me at all 🙂
This approach allows you to live in the moment on your wedding day. You don’t have to worry about speical moments being interupted. We will create a really great timeline months before your wedding so that on your wedding day and we can just go with the flow with the sturcture of the timeline that we thought out well in advnace to let you most enjoy your day!! You can focus on what matters, which is being present with the people you love!

When I photograph a wedding with my candid wedding photography style, my number one goal is to blend into the day like a close friend with a camera. I want you to feel completely at ease, knowing that I’m capturing your story in a way that’s authentic and meaningful. I focus on creating a calm and relaxed environment where you can truly be yourselves.
I take the time to get to know you and your loved ones so that everyone feels comfortable. Whether it’s helping your grandparents find their seats or sharing a laugh with your wedding party, I’m there to support you in any way I can.
My approach is all about being present and tuned in to the emotions and connections around me. I’m constantly looking for those quiet moments that happen naturally. I also invest in gear that allows me to be further away and still capture the facial expressions of people across the room.
Of course, there are times when I’ll gently guide you to ensure everything runs smoothly, but I always strive to keep the focus on your experience and your happiness.
Your wedding day isn’t about me or my camera but about you and your love, and I’m honored to document it in the most genuine way possible.

Some of the most beautiful wedding photos aren’t planned at all. They’re the moments that happen in between that you may not always notice.
While posed photos can be lovely, they can’t compare to the emotion and authenticity of real moments. These candid moments bring your wedding photos to life, reminding you of how you felt, not just how you looked.
When you look back at your wedding album, I want you to see more than just pretty pictures. I want you to see the love, the connection, and the happiness of your wedding day. That’s the beauty of capturing real moments, and it’s why I’m so passionate about my candid wedding photography approach.
